Rep. Gale Adcock Named “Champion for Health” by NC Alliance for Health

RALEIGH—The North Carolina Alliance for Health honored State Representative Gale Adcock (District 41) of Cary as a 2017 “Champion for Health” at its Annual Meeting in Raleigh on Monday, December 4.  Adcock was honored for her long support of a variety of health and prevention issues and was specifically recognized for her work to secure funding for youth tobacco prevention programs and tobacco cessations programs.

“Representative Adcock has been a true champion for health in North Carolina,” said Morgan Wittman Gramann, NCAH Executive Director.  “She has been a tireless advocate for smart health policy and for evidence based programs that improve or state’s health and specifically the health of our children.  Because of her work this year, North Carolina has begun to reinvest in programs focused on preventing children from starting tobacco use and helping tobacco users quit.  These programs are especially important since we have seen an 888% increase in the number of NC youth using e-cigarettes,” said Gramann.  “We are so grateful to Representative Adcock for her work and for her continuing commitment to the health of North Carolinians.”

The North Carolina Alliance for Health (NCAH) is an independent, statewide coalition convening and mobilizing partners to advance equitable health policies that promote wellness and prevent obesity and tobacco use.
